Benvenuto Cellini (1500-1571), NarcisoMythology: Narcissus was beautiful and superb Greek youth. The nymph Echo loved Narcissus, but was refused by him. She was heartbroken and prayed to the gods punish him. One day Narcissus, after exhausting hunting walked by a pool of water and decided to drink some. He saw his own reflection, fell in love with himself, and died. His body had disappeared, and in its place was a yellow flower with white petals in its center . Narcissus was  born. For the Celts the narcissus was the symbol of purity. In China, the flower is a symbol of luck. The daffodil is the national flower of Wales. The daffodil flower is also a symbol of cancer research (the American Cancer Society’s annual Daffodil Days).

The daffodil is easy to grow and early spring flower. Give it enough water and proper drainage.

Enjoy flowers! Hello spring!IMG_0120 IMG_0122 IMG_0279 IMG_0278 IMG_0277IMG_0182
